Pregnancy

I found my pregnancy particularly tough with sickness, pelvic pain resulting in walking with crutches and bleeding which caused extreme worry. I also had Growth scans for "large for dates" Estimated baby weight at 40 weeks was 11lb!!!

Labour

On the 2nd March at 0100hrs my waters went and woke me from my sleep. I got up changed my pyjamas and went back to bed. Around 0130hrs I had a niggle but quite an intense niggle that led me to all fours on the floor.

I then was on and off the toilet as that is where I felt most comfy. The contractions weren't coming with any pattern at this point, so focused on my up breathing. I then went downstairs where my husband started filling the birthing pool and he suggested three times we phone a midwife to come out. I kept saying no as in my head we still had a while to go with it being our first baby!!!

At 0245hrs I finally agreed that we should phone the midwives!

At around 0320hrs I got into the pool and had a sudden realisation that we had phoned for a midwife too late as I could feel our babys head.....

I remained on all fours and birthed our beautiful baby boy into the water, Daddy helped me lift our bundle to the surface and we had skin to skin immediately.

It was truly the most magical moment of our lives and we didn't even have to leave our living room! The midwives came and everything was just perfect 🥰

Still on cloud 9 in our wee oxytocic bubble and wouldn't have had it any other way 💙
